Higher School Certificate Success in 2024
The Year 12 cohort of 2024, comprising 178 students, achieved excellent results in their HSC. Our Vice Captain Nikita Badve obtained the highest Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.95.
Outstanding Individual Performances
Acknowledgement and accolades go to these students who gained places in the HSC Top Achievers category:
- Mia Block for 2nd in French Extension
- Grace Slattery for 4th in Textiles & Design
- Rebecca Ly for 10th in Information Processes and Technology
- Anhaar Kareem for 15th in Legal Studies
Further excellent achievements for the Class of 2024 included 19 students who were named in the All-Rounders Achievement List as having scored 90% or above in 10 or more units of study.

The HSC Distinguished Achievers list acknowledges those students who gained either a Band 6 or an E4 (90% or more) in their two-unit or one-unit subjects respectively. 168 students from Sydney Girls High School were mentioned in this category.

Higher School Certificate Success in 2023
The Year 12 cohort of 2023, comprising 156 students, achieved excellent results in their HSC. Two students obtained the highest Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.95.
Confirmed ATARs show that for the 2023 cohort:
· 10% of students received an ATAR of 99 or above
· 21% received an ATAR of 98 or above
· 56% received an ATAR of 95 or above
· 77% received an ATAR of 90 or above
· 94% received an ATAR or 80 or above.
Outstanding Individual Performances
The joint-Dux of the Class of 2023 was Marisa Chu & Alice Kim, with an ATAR of 99.95.

The HSC Distinguished Achievers list acknowledges those students who gained either a Band 6 or an E4 (90% or more) in their two-unit or one-unit subjects respectively. In 2023. students from Sydney Girls High School were mentioned in this category on 370 occasions across 29 courses, with many students being recognised multiple times.
University Destinations for the class of 2023
This is a fantastic outcome for the Class of 2023 on a state-wide level. Many of these students are currently undertaking university courses including medicine, dentistry, optometry, law, actuarial studies, commerce, engineering, arts, creative arts, computer sciences, philosophy, psychology, cybersecurity and social sciences. The majority of students applied to study within NSW at universities such as the University of Sydney, UNSW, UTS, Western Sydney University, University of Newcastle and Macquarie University. Many students also applied for admission to interstate universities. One student accepted an offer to study at the University of Oxford.
